The conference is intended for all those interested in the teaching and learning of foreign languages at an early age, both pre-primary and primary (up to around 14 years of age). We welcome theoretical papers, practical presentations and workshops from researchers and practitioners, linguists, and teacher educators.
Potential topics for conference presentations and workshops include, but are not limited to:
Each presentation will be allocated 30 minutes (ca. 20 minutes of presentation + 10 minutes for discussion), and each workshop will be allocated 45-60 minutes. The languages of the conference are English and Polish. However, if a paper is going to be delivered in Polish, we ask you to also send an abstract in English.
Workshops will be scheduled for Saturday 28th of Sept., 2019.

- Early-learning foreign vs. second language acquisition: similarities and differences
- Long-term results of early language contacts
- Factors affecting final outcomes in FLL:
- cognitive (working memory capacity, learning strategies etc.)
- affective (motivation, self-concept, self-esteem, emotions etc.)
- social factors (language policy, family background, socio-economic status)
- Pedagogical innovations in TEYL (CLIL, Story-based approach, ICT etc.)
- Teaching students with special educational needs (dyslexia, dysgraphia, gifted children etc.)
- Migrant (EALs, ELLS) children (L2/L3 etc maintenance and attrition, identity preservation, adaptation to school, etc.)
- Crosslinguistic transfer ( L1/L2, L2/L3); translanguaging
- Developing intercultural competence in learners and teachers
- Adaptation difficulties at transitions between educational stages (pre-primary/primary, lower/upper – primary)
- Literacy development in L2/L3
- Assessment and evaluation
- Young learner teacher education and competencies
